A small and beautiful pre-alpine valley north-east of Lecco, the Valsassina is worth a visit both for its sequence of small, cosy villages where life still runs smooth, and for the incredible variety of high-quality food that is produced there, following the methods and rhythms of yore.

If you like discovering unspoilt corners and quality food out of the ordinary, we suggest to rent a car of use the public transports and go to Lecco. Once there, it is quite easy to find the directions for the valley, where you will stumble upon places like Barzio, Ballabio and Pasturo, before approaching again the lake at Bellano, after having covered the entire crescent-shaped valley.
